Tirohanga Nui

Tucked into a compact site on Lookout Point, Tirohanga Nui (nui meaning great and tirohanga panoramic views) was designed by Virginia Barlow of VBA who has happily incorporated many of the clients “quirks” and presented some nice surprises

Some of those quirks include aubergine cupboards and a Lucy G bush and stream creation on the clients splashback.  “I’m no cream or black and white girl,” laughs our client, Maree, “but there are also a lot of lovely wood details. Maree credits the water feature which will sit under the stairs which have open risers and take on the shape of a fern, to Virginia and says interior decorators “will be bringing it all together. It’s different!”

Oamaru area manager Damian Lofts and project manager Josh Nicholls agree saying, “It’s a fascinating and complex architectural home with lots of high-end finishings and details representing Maree’s character, but the best thing is that it is on top of a hill with amazing views”. Because of the leg in the driveway, everyone is behind or below, so the views down over Oamaru, East to the Lookout Bush Reserve, North to the Harbour and West to the Kakanui Mountains are uninterrupted.
