A Long Term Partnership Delivering Homes Across Queenstown Lakes

Since 2014, Breen has worked alongside the Queenstown Lakes Community Housing Trust (QLCHT) to deliver warm, healthy, community‑focused homes across the district. From the first four homes in Arrowtown to the current Stage 3 works at Tewa Banks, this long-term partnership represents more than 134 completed homes, with a total of 169 homes to be delivered once the current stage concludes.

Homes that support real families
QLCHT’s programmes provide pathways to secure, affordable housing for local workers and families. Public reporting has highlighted the impact of these developments, with residents frequently expressing relief at being able to stay living in Queenstown, own their own homes and by relieved of the rental cycle. These stories fuel the purpose behind the partnership.

Thoughtful, durable design
Where possible, across all projects, the homes are built using traditional carpentry methods — concrete slabs, timber frames and durable claddings — paired with enhanced services such as heat-recovery ventilation systems, fresh air circulation and ducted heating. The goal is to include feautres that help ensure long-term performance, comfort and energy efficiency.

Local delivery for local benefit
All works are managed by Breen’s Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors, using a mix of Breen direct labour and local subcontractors appointed through fair and transparent tendering. Most builds have taken place within existing public subdivisions, requiring careful management to minimise impacts on neighbours. At Tewa Banks, staged handovers mean new residents move in as later stages continue, creating a growing, vibrant community.
